What is cannabis heavy metals testing?

Heavy metals are naturally occurring elements that have a high atomic weight and a density at least 5 times greater than water. Classified as known carcinogens, heavy metals are severely toxic and poisonous elements that are known to induce multiple organ system failures even at low concentrations. Heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury are often released in the water supply and can be absorbed through the soil by certain cannabis strains at dangerously high levels. If consumed, they will bioaccumulate, increasing in concentration in the human body over time.

HOW SQRD LAB DETECT HEAVY METALS CONCENTRATION

Utilizing Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS), SQRD Lab is capable of detecting metals at very low concentrations, as low as 1 ppb (one part per billion).

An ICP-MS unit ionizes the sample using inductively coupled plasma. Once ionized, the molecules that make up the sample are separated based on its mass-to-charge ratio and quantified using a mass spectrometer, producing reliable results.
